What Kind of Reader am I

I have been part of social media tarot groups and been reading books on tarot for years and decades. I have only recently encountered the notion that there are different types of readers, as well as different schools of thought, or systems of tarot, such as the Tarot de Marseilles, the Rider Waite Smith and the Thoth, all of which I am capable of reading.  I also read the Spirit Keeper’s Tarot, a deck and system created by Benebell Wen, which incorporates something of all 3 with its own special personality traits.
Which brings me back to the many types of tarot readers.  Psychic, analytical, intuitive, holistic… esoteric, exoteric…
I can be any and all types so I suppose that makes me holistic.  I did have to really study the systems of RWS and Thoth, the astrology, the numerology, the aspects of the Qabalah, to understand the personalities of the cards, to understand what an image was telling me, for my intuition to click. Prior to that, I admit I was rather thick.  I didn’t understand what a dude dancing on a cliff with his cat, or dog, was trying to say.  An old man with a lantern? Yeah? So? I didn’t have a clue.  And add colors to the mix.  What’s yellow mean?  I had no idea.  So I deep dived into books and books and more books, scoured the internet, purchased multiple decks. Erm.  Multiple.  Decks.  And I learned.  Astrology was probably the most helpful addition.  Mars in Aries! Eureka! I GET IT.  Moon in Cancer. Whoa!   Maybe if you are reading this, that doesn’t mean anything to you, but it made everything make sense for me and suddenly I understood the personalities and multiple facets of all the cards. And that’s when my intuition clicked. Like a lightbulb turning on.

I am not incredibly psychic but I do get flashes of visions from time to time.  Images of movies, song lyrics… relevant images will flip through my inner vision.  I once saw a typewriter fall from above and land in a clients lap and I told her she would get a new job offer and it would just kind of fall in her lap and she called me a couple weeks later nearly in shock because a job offer came almost out of nowhere.  She didn’t have to seek it out.  And it was an office job, just to explain why a typewriter.  One of my favorite psychic experiences is not tarot related but, I am going to share it anyway.  I was working and one of my co-workers(now a dear friend) was trying to think of a particular super hero.  She couldn’t think of the name but he was ‘the guy with the hat’  No one could come up with a guy in a hat but we named off all the supers with masks.   Finally, we gave up in frustration and we all quietly went back to focusing on our work.  As I worked I thought to myself,  I wish I could see what she sees.  And just then I had an image in my head of a fedora on a river bank and a hand comes down, scoops it up and puts it on his head and it’s “Indiana Jones?!?!” I exclaimed out loud, questioningly.  “Yes! That’s it!”  “Well, he’s not a SUPER-hero.” I said. She said,  “I know,  not really,  but how did you get that?” I said thst I just wished to see what she saw and that’s what I saw.  It was an amazing experience, and one I have only been able to duplicate two other times, despite trying often.
I have very strong intuition(you know, outside of staring at images on cards), social and emotional intelligence and a strong understanding of human psychology from a lay persons standpoint, not being a professional,  though I have read several fascinating books.  I have always been an objective(mostly) observer of the human condition.  I tend to see things from a higher perspective, the bigger picture, multiple sides of situations.  That makes me somewhat of a natural born mediator.
I have studied shamanism and herbalism, the collective conscienceness and psycho-spiritualism most of my adult life.  I have danced with my own shadow, done the work and come out in a pretty strong and stable place.  I can look at pretty much any situation in the world and understand it, even if I don’t like it.  I feel like the memory of every possible experience,  good or bad, perp or victim, is written in my bones. I may not access the actual memories of a hundred thousand lifetimes and a half a million more, they are there, nonetheless.  And I understand.  I am not here to judge anyone,  I am here to guide you through whatever you are going through,  whether you just want to know if a date will be successful or you are going through your dark night of the soul.
